3.Beck - Loser (1993)

An infernal lyric, that kept hordes of slackers scratching their heads, wondering what in all darnation was he crooning about in the chorus. Was it ‘So, I don't care no more?, ‘Sword over Benedor', what WAS it?

It was simply

Soy un perdedor
I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me?

Spanish, simply Spanish, yes believe it or not there are actually a few other languages knocking around besides English. And get this Soy un perdedor means….I'm a loser.

2. Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit (1991)

What an absolutely amazing song, it changed the music industry completely, hell it changed the world completely. And what it makes it all the more amazing is that nobody had an iota as to what Kurt was screaming about. Everybody moshed around, gasping for breath, roaring out gibberish, delighted and angry at the same time. Strange and wonderful. Here's how you should have started:

Load up on guns
Bring your friends
It's fun to lose
And to pretend
She's overboard
Myself assured
I know I know
A dirty word

Then yell: Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello (i.e. sixteen times)

1. Bruce Springsteen - Born in the USA (1984)

One of the most misinterpreted songs ever penned, most listeners bowing their heads, raising their clenched fist and roaring out any number of wrong lyrics that vow their patriotism. Eek! People, it's anything but, rather it is song that protests the experiences that Vietnam veterans faced on their return from the war. Get a hold of some of the bombastic lyrics:

Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man.
